16th century polyphonic music performance masterclass
Leader Prof. Detlef Bratschke (Germany)

Conductor, organist and harpsichordist Detlef Bratschke is the artistic director of the renowned Balthasar Neumann Choir, a founding member as well as the director of the Orlando di Lasso ensemble, and professor of ensemble singing in the Department of Early Music at the University of the Arts in Bremen. His extensive experience in the field of early music has spanned decades since his early career as a boy soprano, during which time he has worked with legendary figures including Gustav Leonhardt and Philippe Herreweghe.
During this masterclass, Prof. Bratschke will work together with students of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, as well as other interested participants, on the repertoire of the Italian composer Teodoro Riccio (c.1540–c.1601) who was maestro di capella in Königsberg. The best participants will be selected to perform in Riccio’s Liber primus missarum on 5 September 2023 in Vilnius Cathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Vladislaus, within the framework of our festival.
