Sigismundus Lauxmin International Harpsichord Contest, second edition

The only international harpsichord contest to be held in the Baltic States is dedicated to the notable Lithuanian scholar Sigismundus Lauxmin (1596/97–1670) – musical theorist, philosopher, professor of Vilnius University and author of the first musical textbook in Lithuania. The aim of the contest is to acquaint the competition’s participants, as well as listeners, with the small but highly significant musical heritage of our country.
The contest's first edition in 2020 was held online due to the travel restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, due to the current geopolitical situation following the illegal invasion launched against our friend and ally Ukraine by the Russian Federation, participation in this year’s contest will also take place online.
A concert by the prize winner, consisting of a video recorded performance, will be available for the audience to watch on-screen in the Renaissance Hall of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Vilnius (pre-registration required), and will also be streamed online via the Banchetto Musicale festival Facebook page and YouTube channel.
